Has anyone ever noticed that we try so hard to overcomplicate things and really when you boil it right down nothing will beat word and a nice keyboard.
So after many tires at trying to utilise and integrate a new writing application I am on the verge of stepping backwards. There is nothing wrong with being linear and at long last I think I have come to the realisation that is how I write, in a straight line. So welcome back word and welcome back Asus...

It's been a long time
Well, its been an awfully long time since I put finger to key and I must admit I have missed it.
Why the long delay in getting back to the story telling that I love so much. The answer is simple.
Unconstructive criticism by people who in my own opinion have little to no talent when it comes to the art of telling tales.
I must admit that I was taken back at how freely people think they can insult and attack but after many months of shying away I am back.
What's new, well all of the negativity has aided me in getting back in the saddle, Hals Tale has been put on a back burner for a little while.
I agree a rewrite is most probably needed but I must admit the story is still quite fresh to me personally, I am not used to writing fantasy but I did have a lot of fun in writing this tale.
It was innocent and childish, the plot is quick and easy to read but I still think that of all my stories this was the most fun to write.
So what next, well I have started to author a new story. Again this is new for me, its a action, mystery, sci-fi and is shaping up nicely. I hope to have some edits available for download soon on the website. Gens Tale is also still progressing but like many second acts following the first is proving a little harder than I expected.
Hell if all else fails, I might actually try to finish FWOL once again...don't hold your breath though I have been working on it for 15 years.
Thanks for reading, the one thing I must take from all of this is that if you really put yourself out there, heart and all and someone slaps you down....question their motives.
Question their work and if you find them lacking realise that life if full of people wanting to put you down to make themselves feel better.
I like so many others, write for myself. I am not in it for the money or the recognition but mainly to be.
I have so many stories, fairy tales and nightmares pent up inside, that putting finger to key is the only way to free my brain from the clutter within.
Think before you speak, if you cannot make up a story. Please do not judge those that can. Writing about your life....well what is the old saying, we all have a book inside just waiting to get out, if that book is your life....how hard is that.

Over 6k - Only 29 left to go
As with most projects I have set myself a target goal, most would disagree with this and say that a story is as long as it needs to be. Often it helps to ensure you set yourself an end line to make sure you are writing the correctly level of content.
With this in mind the end line or word count that has been predetermined for Gen's Tale is 35k. Which with my current writing speed will leave me about another 30 days worth of work to go with probably another months worth of editing time on top of that before publication.
Originally I had hoped that the second instalments of the Snow Depth trilogy would have been completed in December of 2012 however with work and family commitments and not totally undue to some derailing from a conversation I had half way through the year this was not to be the case.
However this instalment of the blog is to let any that are reading know that the main story plot line for book two has been completed and things are shaping up nicely now. I am back at the point where there is not enough time to complete the writing I need to do, this is always a good sign for me.
I will be posting up some snippets for those that are interested soon. So please pop back from time to time or visit the website for further progress.
I hope that Gen's Tale will be completed soon and look forward to you all reading it. It is fun, which is something that writing is supposed to be for me.
